Hi everyone!

Here’s what We worked on in CloudCannon over the last month, headlined by _API Keys_ opening up to every _Organization_.

# API Keys for every Organization

The CloudCannon API is no longer behind a flag. Every _Organization_ now has an _API Keys_ page under the _Sharing_ section of _Org Settings_, where you can create a key, choose exactly which _Permissions_ it has, and revoke it when you’re done with it.

An _API Key_ lets a program act on behalf of your _Organization_ — managing _Sites_, _Projects_, _Builds_, and more. To get started, read our documentation on [what API Keys are](https://community.cloudcannon.com/documentation/developer-articles/what-are-api-keys/) and [creating an API Key](https://community.cloudcannon.com/documentation/developer-articles/create-an-api-key/), then see the [API reference](https://community.cloudcannon.com/documentation/developer-reference/api/) for every available endpoint.

# View As mode

If you’re in the _Owners Permission Group_, you can now see CloudCannon with the exact _Permission_ set of another _Team Member_. It’s the quickest way to answer “why can’t they see this button?” without borrowing someone’s laptop.

Open the _Context Menu_ on a member’s card under the _Team_ section of _Org Settings_ and choose _View As_. A _Viewing As_ banner sits at the top of your screen while it’s active, with a _Stop_ button to leave at any time.

Two things worth knowing: _View As_ mode only changes how the app looks to you, so anything you interact with is still logged under your own name — you can’t use it to act on someone else’s behalf. Also, it ends automatically if you switch to another _Organization_ or log out. You can view as any _Team Member_ in your _Organization_ except yourself.

# Sync Errors and better build suggestions on the Site Dashboard

The _Site Dashboard_ now shows _Sync Errors_ along with suggested steps to resolve them, so when your _Site_ falls out of step with your repository you get told what happened and what to do about it, rather than having to work it out.

In the same vein, _Sites_ using Yarn or pnpm with a version of Node that isn’t preinstalled now get a specific build error suggestion pointing at the fix.

We also gave the _Site Dashboard README_ a refresh. It now has a border and a table of contents, and it supports images and _Anchor Links_, so it’s a much better place to put onboarding notes for your team. Read our documentation on [the Site Dashboard README](https://community.cloudcannon.com/documentation/developer-articles/what-is-the-site-dashboard-readme/) if you haven’t set one up.

# Trials and second Organizations

Every _Organization_ you create now automatically starts a [Free Trial](https://community.cloudcannon.com/documentation/user-articles/what-is-cloudcannons-free-trial/) on the Standard plan. Previously you had to start one manually for any _Organization_ after your first.

# Tooltips and suggestions for your configuration file

When you edit your _CloudCannon Configuration File_ in the _Source Editor_, CloudCannon now shows tooltips and suggestions as you type, based on your keys and formatting. This means less tab-switching to the [configuration file reference](https://community.cloudcannon.com/documentation/developer-reference/configuration-file/) to check whether a key takes a string or a list.

# Dates look the same everywhere now

We standardized how dates are displayed and formatted across the app UI and in your file formats. If you’ve ever seen the same date written three different ways depending on which part of CloudCannon you were looking at, that should be fixed now.

# A few other things worth mentioning

- The _Export all to CSV_ option on _Inboxes_ now includes two extra columns, _Automatically marked spam_ and _Explicitly marked status_, so you can see how each submission was classified.
- Added the `options.encode_url: true` option to _URL Inputs_, which automatically replaces special characters in a URL with their encoded counterparts, e.g. `[my link](/assets/My File.pdf)` becomes `[my link](/assets/My%20File.pdf)`.
- A couple of Safari fixes: date fields across the app were breaking, and CloudCannon could freeze outright in Safari version 27.
- Fixed two _Bookshop_ problems in the _Visual Editor_ — components sometimes not updating to reflect your changes, and the add (+) buttons not working at all.
- Fixed CSV files being saved with `\r\n` line endings instead of the standard `\n` newlines.
- Fixed _Multi-factor Authentication_ code autocomplete not working on mobile.
- Fixed the tools in a _Browser_ modal, like the _Snippets Browser_ or _Array Item Browser_, not sticking to the top when you scrolled.
- Fixed not being able to type in a _Select Input_ to search its options.
- Fixed _Number Inputs_ rejecting `min: 0`.
- Fixed the _Content Editor_ occasionally inserting an uneditable _Snippet_ card when you removed bold, italic, or inline code formatting.
- Fixed Cloudinary DAMs using dynamic folder mode not recognizing the file type of assets.
- Fixed _Partner Organizations_ not earning _Partner Points_ for additional _Team Members_ a _Client Organization_ had beyond the number included in their plan.
- Fixed the _Usage_ graph on the _Site Dashboard_ not repainting when you refreshed your browser tab.
- Fixed the _Hosting Bandwidth_ widget on an _Organization_ card in the _Organization Browser_ sometimes showing “Billing overdue” when billing was fine.
- Fixed being blocked from editing _Sites_ in some cases when you had the correct `write` permissions.
- Fixed _Sites_ with _Authentication_ enabled becoming publicly accessible after downgrading to a plan that doesn’t support that type of _Authentication_. Your website now shows an error message instead.
- A few more billing fixes: you can now leave an _Organization_ that’s in the _Billing Paused_ state, the _Confirm Payment_ button on _Your Subscription Plan_ prompts you to re-add a credit card after you’ve removed one instead of erroring, and the _Update your Plan_ page no longer has misaligned UI.
- Improved error messages in several areas of the app.
- Dependencies were updated several times to patch security vulnerabilities.

That’s August! As always, let us know what you think or if you have any questions, and reach out to our support team if you need a hand. 👋
