Hi there! I user Grammarly extensively when writing documentation in Google docs. However, Grammarly doesn’t work in CloudCannon I do a lot of proofreading in CloudCannon and having Grammarly available would be super helpful. Is that on your roadmap? Thanks!
Hi Sonja! Yes, we would love to have Grammarly working in CloudCannon. I know some of our technical writers are big Grammarly users
Unfortunately, it seems the Grammarly browser extension doesn’t look at iframe elements by default, and CloudCannon’s editing interfaces are all embedded inside iframes.
I’ve reached out to Grammarly for help with this, so hopefully we will have a solution in the near future
Great to know. Thanks Ryan!
Hey @Sonja_McShane @Ryan has been working wonders with the Grammarly support team and we have some movement on this next month
Oooo, exciting! Thanks very much for the update, Marlia!
Hopefully I’ll be back in touch sooner rather than later
Hello again I’m still talking to Grammarly about getting the browser extension to work in CloudCannon. Hopefully this will be working in the not-too-distant future!
In the meantime, I’ve learned that the Grammarly desktop app can work in CloudCannon! You just need to make sure the browser extension is disabled, by clicking the icon in your browser’s toolbar and deselecting the Check text with browser extension option. You’ll get a floating widget which can make suggestions as you edit in CloudCannon.
Let me know if this works for you @Sonja_McShane!
Hi Ryan. Thanks for the info!
I disabled the extension and I’m running the Grammarly desktop app, but can’t see it working in CloudCannon.
I’m used to seeing the floating widget in Slack and Google docs, so I’m expecting the same on in CloudCannon. Is that right?
Is there something I need to do in CloudCannon? I’ve saved my current work and refreshed the page.
Thanks,
Sonja
Hmm, no you shouldn’t need to do anything else to get it working. I haven’t tested on Windows, what operating system are you using? Are you editing in the Content Editor, Visual Editor, or a plain text field?
And so today it is working - yay! (I’m using macOS.)
Thanks again,
Sonja
