Guidelines

Welcome!

Please treat this forum with the same respect as a public park. (Except, you know, it’s a public park that helps everyone build static-first websites!)

This community is a shared resource for skills, knowledge, and conversation. We don’t have hard-and-fast rules, but what follows are guidelines to aid community judgment and to help keep discussions kind and civil.

Improve the discussion

Your discussions will help set the tone for new arrivals. Engage in conversations that interest you the most, and try to add something positive to discussions.

Remember that not everyone here will have the same level of experience as you, so help us to encourage newer developers and CloudCannon users.

Spend some time browsing existing topics before creating new ones, and you’ll have a better chance to find the answers you’re looking for.

Use community tools like bookmarks, likes, flags, and replies to improve everyone’s experience.

Be agreeable, even when you disagree

Respect the topics and people discussing them, even when you disagree. Feel free to offer improvements to others’ solutions, but criticize ideas, not people.

Avoid name-calling, personal attacks, responding to tone instead of content, and knee-jerk contradictions.

Instead, try to provide thoughtful insights that enhance conversations.

Always be civil

Moderators have authority, but you’re responsible too. If you see bad behavior, don’t reply — just flag it. Moderators may remove content for any reason to maintain community standards.

It should go without saying, but please avoid rudeness, offensive content, obscenity, harassment, impersonation, and spam.

And remember that search engines index these discussions, so please keep content family-friendly.

Keep It Tidy

Put things in the right place:

  • Use appropriate categories (we’ll add more if we need them — let us know!)
  • Avoid cross-posting
  • Stay on topic
  • Use Like buttons instead of agreement posts

Share with attribution

This is a great place to share open-source solutions and code. Remember to give credit where it’s due, and add attribution where you can. (And, where relevant, seek permission before sharing a solution that isn’t public.)

If you see private information shared accidentally on a post, alert the OP or your friendly moderation team.

Powered by you

This site operates through the combined work of staff moderators and community members. If you have any questions, open a topic in General or contact the moderators for urgent issues.
